Week Six: Experimentation and Development
Practice and experimentation are great ways of developing ideas and gaining new inspiration in regard to a task being carried out, which is why we were tasked with experimenting on different things that we may have not tried before for our project in order to gain a different perspective of the project and see if something else works.
This post will be based on me displaying what I experimented with and how I was able to develop the ideas I already had.
Initially, the structure of my building took the shape of an organic to illustrate similarities with the shape of an infinity symbol, but I have not gotten many sketches yet, so I used this class to do more of developing the idea I already had, and little experimentation.
The images above display the development I did during the session, I made sketches of the building from different views and angles, to familiarize myself with the structure of the building. I tried a little experimentation by adding a design of a bind going round the building while still staying this the idea of the infinity symbol, so it was like a bind holding the two big shapes together.
Moving on with the experiment, I decided to move from an organic shape to a geometric shape. It ended up coming out nicely, and also blending well with the infinity bind around the building.
As another form of experimentation, I also decided to move from hand sketching to digital sketches, I used SketchUp to create a realistic form of the building which I struggled with because of the shape and was also part of the reason the geometric shapes worked perfectly for me.
