WEEK 5: SKILLS SESSION

The first session of this week was about drawing buildings using perspectives and developing the skill of using perspective to draw buildings. In this blog, I will briefly discuss about this task and how it will be implemented in my final project.

We focused on drawing a building using the two-point perspective. We marked two points at both ends of the A 3 sheet we then connected both points using a line, and then we drew a perpendicular line dissecting the line connecting both points, this line was the focal point of the viewer ( the closest and largest to the viewer) and these lines would be connected to the vanishing points. From there, we continued to measure and draw perpendicular and diagonal lines leading to the vanishing point until the building was drawn completely. We used a fine liner pen to distinguish our lines and erase every unnecessary line from the drawing. Finally, we added colours to boost the appearance of the building.

Taking part in this task will be extremely helpful in the development of my final project designs which would be in 2 dimensions. Drawing with perspective was not my strongest trait, which made this task good for me because I have been able to learn the steps in which I can draw 2 points perspective which would be vital in my progression route.

For self-study, I went further to practice another 2-point perspective drawing which was available in the learning zone. Practicing this was a good way for me to develop this particular skill in preparation for my final 2d outcome.

Following this post will be a post about the task we will do in the next session, which is another skill session about model making.
