DEVELOPING IDEAS (THE OBJECT LESSONS)

For today's class, we are tasked with a creative exercise whereby we are meant to pick an object out of a bunch of other objects and use the object chosen to develop the ideas drawn in the ideas generation task in preparation for the project sign-off in the coming week.

The object I chose was an organic-shaped object with a cylindrical base. After picking the object, we were asked to think about some words that best describe the object in terms of shape texture, size, movement e.t.c. I came up with some words that best described my object and they are as follows; mushroom, chess piece, infinity symbol, light bulb, organic shape, cylindrical, smooth, curvy, concave & convex, and simplicity.
Seeing this object, I remembered a building designed by Frank Lloyd, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum which has a similar shape to this object. The top of the building has the shape of an inverted cylindrical cone which can be found in one aspect of this object.

This idea then led me to creating a couple of sketches related to the object and the sketches I made prior in the initial idea generation task. The making of this sketches then led to the design of my final project which is based on one of the word I chose that best described the object 'infinity symbol'.

After this, I will focus of the development of my concept sketches and research that will facilitate the development of my project for the rest of the term. These processes will all be reflected on my blogs.

  1. At the end of this post talk about what you are going to post next - further development of my design idea. Would be really good to see more sketches and notes of your ideas and to see how you are thinking.

Also add the notes and sketches you made in the session.
