WEEK 2 : ADVERTISING

ADIDAS ALL IN OR NOTHING

I like this post because of how minimalistic it looks but very effective in the message it is passing out to the viewer. The colour combination between the black and orange strips on the shoulders of the shirts, and the scally shadows on the faces also bring out the beauty of the picture. The typography in the ads also complements each other very well, from the black text on a white background to the white text on a black background.

Nothing is left to chance and everything is left out there on the pitch; the sweat and fearlessness extend from the pitch to the training ground, into the gym, and through every aspect of life (The Shorty Awards, No date).

WHAT IS A TAGLINE?

A tagline can be referred to as a one-line statement, which is a brief illustration or a brand promise that helps in creating interests and understanding. This helps the masses to be able to link the brand name to the brand message ( Designbull, 2014).

WHAT IS A LOGO?

Logos on the other hand can be in the form of images, texts, shapes, or a combination of all three that portrays the name and the purpose of a business. But a logo can and ought to be more than just an identifying mark. If a logo is well-designed, it also has the capability of telling the story of a company by channelling the brand message in a way that helps to establish an emotional connection with the target audience (Shmarel, 2022).

ALL IN OR NOTHING

THE MESSAGE IN ADVERTISING

The Adidas all-in-or-nothing advert was aimed at promoting their football boot mainly for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

An advertising message is an underlying idea or point that an advertiser wishes to convey to its target audience. Its purpose is to persuade individuals to take the desired action like making a purchase, signing up for a service, making a reservation, booking a hotel, etc. Bhasin, H. (2023)

METHODS OF GETTING YOUR ATTENTION IN ADVERTISEMENT

Four best ways to capture attention

  1.  Be incongruent with what consumers expect
  2. Entertain consumers
  3. Use media choice to your brand’s full advantage
  4. Content people want to share    Robertson, G. (2023)
