WEEK TWO: Development Ideas #2 - Making Studies

Making studies of a sketched idea is a way of developing that idea that would help in understanding every aspect of the design, this was what we were asked to do after the Development Ideas #1 task.

As a continuation of where I stopped in the previous blog post, I will be sharing how I came across the Connecticut River and how that led to the decision to use that shape as the shape of my design in this blog.

The image above is a screenshot from Google Maps showing the Connecticut River just along the side of Cromwell (the town where the site of my project is located. When I saw this shape I thought it would work well with my set project, having an inner courtyard with could work as the outdoor exhibition space while having a nice flow.

This idea led to me sketching the shape of the river as some in img 2 below, and then afterward I moved to the creation of some studies.

The studies were made in the form of elevation drawings. I made a from rear and side view shown in img 3, 4, and 5 respectively

As a continuation of this, I will begin to do my initial research to back and boost my design ideas

  1. Good post, with an interesting design idea and inspiration behind it. Follow up with another set of sketches that demonstrate how you are further developing this idea, include some colour so your viewers get a better understanding of how you are visualising this.
