WEEK TWO: DEVELLOPMENT IDEAS #1
In week one, we were tasked with creating a mind map as a form of initial idea generation. Following this task, in week one we started the development of these ideas, we were given three images to use as an aid to develop our ideas. I went with the development image #1 (Antony Gormley, Asian Field 2003) to help develop my idea.

{img 1}
Initially, I sketched an idea that had geometric form and shown in the image below {img 2}, the idea behind this was to have two separate buildings, one having the exhibition and performance space while the other having the offices and other aspects included in the brief

{img 2}
This sketch was further developed to look more like a building. In the Asian field image above {img 1} the molded figures all have concave eyes which was what I incorporated into this design on the top floor.

{img 3}
After making an idea on a geometric form, I then decided to try out an organic form. I did not have any particular form in mind but as said in the Asian field image “ every fight in the image is unique in its own way” and they are all organic shapes. So I took this idea and sketched random organic shapes in the form of buildings.

The images above show different development sketches of this particular idea.
Then my next thought was could I merge both the organic and geometric design forms together and the design looks nice with a nice idea behind it as well.

{img 8}

{img 9}
This was the final design I made. Then I went to do a little look at the site of the project and the the shape of the Connecticut River caught my eye and I ended up picking the shape and using it to make a design.
In the next post, I’ll expand on this and talk about how I made some studies of this design
