In Bamboo by Philip F. Yuan: Research

For this piece of research, I plan to explore the relationship between the In Bamboo building and the infinity symbol and the structural concept to get useful information that would be pivotal in the development of my project this term which is a children's hospital that will also have a structural concept of the infinity symbol.

The roof of the In bamboo building has an infinity symbol shape which was made in a way to create a flow and continueity between the two large circles. As well as this design concept has a very aesthetic look, but it does not just stop at that, the building was designed to have a form of 'Mobius' shape which allows for more light into the building through the courtyard.
Philip F. Yuan explains when talking about the In Bamboo building that the aim was to maintain a balance between the inside and outside of the building while using bamboo and tiles as the main materials for the work and he says; ‘building can only try to start a dialogue with earth, while plants belong to the earth’ (designboom, 2018).

In developing my own project this could be something I could look at, whether directly or indirectly. The design of my building may not be similar to this In bamboo design, but I will try to incorporate some ideas from this project into my project, like, looking for ways to accommodate more natural light into the building, creating a connections between the inside and the outside in form of a courtyard.

Approaching the final week of the term I was able to complete some of the designs of my project where I incorporated a few features from the 'In Bamboo' project like the allowance of natural light into the building through the courtyards at the middle of the building.
