For this project, I picked a word I wrote during the 'idea
generation-object lesson' that correlated with one of my ideas from the ‘crazy
eight’ task, which was the ‘Infinity sign’. This was the main catalyst for the structure of my design (has the infinity sign as the overall shape). I was inspired by Zaha Hadid's fluid infinitus plaza located in China because of the relation between the infinitus plaza shape and the shape of my project. The structure has several stories and it shows the two main buildings connected with something like a pathway.
Upon further research, I came across another building designed using the infinity symbol. The building is called 'in bamboo' and it is located in Dao Ming town, Shongzhou, Sichuan province, China. The principal architect for the design of this project was Phillip F. Yuan.

The completion of this project took just 52 days which was less than seven and a half weeks, the architects assembled this project using a digital prefabricated structural wood and for this reason, the team was able to reduce waste and increase the speed of installation. (designboom, 2018). In a FAQ section when asked what makes the infinity symbol design unique in architecture, an answer was given that "the infinity symbol design is unique due to its symbolic representation of continuity and balance. It creates a seamless connection between the building and its natural surroundings, offering a distinct aesthetic that is both visually striking and meaningful" (filipeboni, 2023).
The use of the infinity symbol was a way for them to incorporate their idea of blending natural mediums in the construction of this project with the sustainability of the environment, with most of the materials being bamboo wood, where the name of the building was generated from. This idea can be implemented in om project of creation a children's hospital, it is a place that will be a safe space for the children, therefore incorporating a very sustainable plan in the approach of this project in terms of materials, and location.
In continuation of my project this term, I will be researching in a more detailed format the approach and idea of the infinitus plaza by Zaha Hadid, I will also research more on Phillip F. Yuan because he is the principal architect for the 'in bamboo' project, the third architect I would be researching further on is the architect that designed the happy rizzi house, Konrad Kloster, because his work is related to the theme I chose for my project, and finally, in relation to pop art, I will research on Will Alsop who designed the Ontario College of Arts and Design.
