INITIAL IDEAS GENERATION-CRAZY EIGHT
This post is about the crazy eight-idea generation task done in the third session this week, we were tasked with making a couple of quick two-minute drawings of ideas related to the three themes given to us in the previous session.
Drawings
The image above displays the crazy-eight idea I did in class, I did eight quick sketches illustrating all the themes provided. Starting from the top left of the image, I drew a maze that was based on the theme 'of primitivism'. There was no research to back this but what I was thinking about when this idea came to my head was Stonehenge. The second drawing is related to the pop art theme, I was thinking of creating a community stadium whereby the body of the stadium would be designed in a very colourful and attractive way. The third drawing was in relation to the second based on the theme, the idea was to draw a children's care home where a few children can stay and feel at home. Next to it is an inspirational drawing from the Egyptian pyramids, the drawing is a birds-eye view showing the top of the building. Following this was a sketch of a skyscraper kind of in the shape of a lightning bolt, at the time of drawing this I did not really have any idea behind it but it ended up coming out okay. The sixth drawing is a drawing of a residential block that includes apartments for residents to live in, I was inspired by the industrial theme. The seventh drawing is related to the fifth drawing in a way that I was just allowing my hand to move and make random shapes, looking at it vertically, there may not be any reasonable structure, but, if looked at horizontally, it looks like a building with a concrete rear and a glassy front. For the last drawing, I was thinking of animals that I could get inspiration from which have some historical meaning to relate with primitivism but instead, I thought of a spider web which has a nice structure, the drawing shows a bird eye view which looks like a flat spider web, but which looked at normally, it is a building layered up continuously with hexagons while reducing in size as it goes upward.
After the crazy eight idea generation, we were tasked with making another set of drawings by picking one of the drawings from the crazy eight and developing more ideas from that particular one.

Firstly, take better images of your drawings - these are really hard to see clearly. Secondly, I expect to see discussion and your thoughts on each of these drawings - I understand that you were asked to work quickly, but what were you trying to do with each one? Did you develop any of these? Where is the second or third set of drawings you were asked to do? Which of these do you think can sustain a project over the next two months?
