Research - STYLE OF ARCHITECTURE

For this post, I will be focused on researching the style of architecture that my project would be based on.

The style of architecture used in Nigeria is modern architecture. This style of architecture is what is going to be incorporated into my final boarding school project. Some examples of top modern Nigerian architects are;

  1. Olujumoke Adenowo
  2. Baba Oladeji
  3. Jide Adekola
These are a few of the architects who design modern architecture in Nigeria.

Olujumoke Adenowo

Olujumoke is a 55-year-old Nigerian architect, she started her studies of architecture at the age of 14 at the Obafemi Awolowo University and graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Architecture. She subsequently obtained a distinction in MSc Architecture. Olujumoke had the opportunity to design her first building at the age of 23 which is a dream come through for any young architect (Sarafadeen, 2018).

Olujumoke Adenowo is an architect who designs modern architectural buildings which is the reason I am inspired by her work. Some of her prestigious architecture are listed below;

This is the first architectural design made by Olujumoke, this is a building located in the middle of the Federal Republic of Abuja. It houses over a thousand federal offices, and this still remains one of her best designs for me. I love this building because it is a mixture of different geometric shapes, rather than just making it a big rectangular building she decided to make it more of an E-shaped structure with a cylindrical entrance in the middle.
