STYLE OF ARCHITECTURE

The style of architecture this design would be based on is modern architecture.

Modern architecture, also known as modernist architecture, is an architectural style that is based on the new and ingenious technologies of construction, especially the use of glass, steel, and reinforced concrete.

RULES OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE

1. Pilotis (Pillars): Modern buildings should be raised with a good number of strengthened pilots (pillars)

2. Open Floor Plan: This is essential to modern architecture as it is a principle that is associated with structural development and the exclusion of partition walls that are bearing weight, therefore allowing the interior living space to be more flexible

3. Roof Garden: A roof garden also known as a flat rooftop is a key feature of modern buildings, as it equates to more living space.

CHARACTERISTICS OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE

  • Rectangular forms with clean lines
  • Open floor plans
  • Large, horizontal windows or curtain glass
  • A connection between the indoor and outdoor
  • Lack of ornamentation
  • Steel, glass, and reinforced concrete are among the most prominent building materials (McLaughlin,2023)
